Much to do in the world. What’s your part?

This time we’re in…. Much opportunity lives in its soil. Depending on who you follow, depending on whose frequency you’re tuning into, you’ll get to hear about a different opportunity. You may even be receiving the invitation to get involved. There’s many (we live in a time of extreme cultural and global shift right now).

I invite you to discern…

What are the opportunities for you to join in on? Which ones feel like yours to sink your teeth into? Which ones are calling you in?

What can guide you in answering that question?

Well, one thing that may NOT be the guiding force is comfort.

Just because something feels uncomfortable, doesn’t mean you should stay away from it. That discomfort or unease might be the compass pointing you TOWARD it.

For example, doing anti-racism work feels uncomfortable for me. And, I anticipate that: I don’t expect it to feel pleasant. I do have clarity, though, about my values. Knowing that I stand for equity and equality, helps me show up for the work (in my own inner system and out in our political + cultural systems). And, I am asking the question ‘What’s my role within anti-racism?’ to discern where to go, to determine where I get to put my energy at this particular time. I get to detect the discomfort, and then see what resources do I need as I do this work?

Level 1: In my experience, tracking what comes up somatically (in my body) when I encounter the ‘opportunity’ is one key element in deciding where to put my energy these days.

Level 2: And, the second layer of clarity to detect within that tracking is: what is underneath that sensation? What’s underneath the surface? THAT answer, gives me clarity as to the next right action.

Just as discomfort can be an arrow, so too is joy, excitement, curiosity (sensed in the physical body).

If you encounter an ‘opportunity’ in life, and you feel excitement, curiosity, that PULL in, that could also be an indicator of a ‘Hell Yes’.

For me, tuning up my clarity to detect sense experience, to detect how I feel in orientation to what life brings me, has been a direct result of my mindfulness practice.

For example, I can see myself over-working, and then be able to become aware of it, and then look underneath to see I was people pleasing in order to ‘not get in trouble’. In that moment of insight and clarity, I can then shift my behavior to be in alignment with who I WANT to be.

That sequence of clarity unraveling, though, can happen in a 10 minute journaling session, and I would say it’s a by product of my mindfulness practice.

I’ve cultivated mileage and concentration, clarity and equanimity. The fruit of that, for me, has been sensory clarity and emotional intelligence that directly impacts my career, my relationships, and my relationship with myself.

Is this resonating?

Note that this isn’t prescriptive. This is my experience with mindfulness and how I evaluate the opportunities coming in my door (especially during this time of huge energetic shifts and cultural shifts).

LOTS to do in this world. But what do I get to do, as part of that? What’s my place in this story, today?
